On Monday 9th July 2018, a new Nottingham Rugby supporters club was formed at the Trent Navigation Inn on Meadow Lane.
Named the ‘Green Archers’, the new, independent supporters group aims to maintain positive relations with the board, staff and players at Nottingham Rugby, as well as looking at ways to improve the atmosphere at Nottingham’s home and away games, including organising group travel to selected away fixtures during the forthcoming 2018/19 Greene King IPA Championship season.
At the Archers’ first AGM, Martin Hallam-Benn was elected as Chair, Sally Radford was selected as Treasurer and Liz Hopewell as the group’s Secretary. A full list of elected members are as follows:
Chair – Martin Hallam-Benn Vice-Chair – Cathy Topping Treasurer – Sally Radford Secretary – Liz Hopewell Communications & Marketing – Simon Ball-McQueen Club Liaison – David Kirk
Speaking after the group’s first AGM, the group’s spokesperson Simon Ball-McQueen said:
“Green and Whites supporters have been lacking a voice and real group movement for the last few seasons now, so we felt it was the right time to stand up and be counted.
“We’ve already got lots of ideas to get things moving and we’re hoping to get these into place as quickly as possible before the start of the new Championship season.
“As a group, we’d like to thank everyone who has attended the first two meetings and the club, who have been very supportive in terms of providing a number of benefits for Green Archers members, which we will be announcing very soon.”
Further details on the groups constitution and how to join the Green Archers, will be published in due course. For more information, please visit www.greenarchers.co.uk.
